1. Who we are

PHIS API is a product of Data Products Factory by DataColada. All rights reserved. We package Australia's official Private Health Insurance dataset as a developer-friendly REST API and consumer-facing intelligence product. The underlying data is sourced from the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care and published via privatehealth.gov.au.

2. Data source and licensing

Private health insurance product data is sourced from the Private Health Information Statement (PHIS) register, maintained by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care. The dataset is published on data.gov.au under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia (CC BY 3.0 AU) licence. © Commonwealth of Australia.

Data is refreshed monthly following each PHIS release. The dataset update date is shown in the product detail view. Neither the Department of Health nor the PHIS register endorses Data Products Factory or DataColada.

3. AI-generated content

The AI Advisor, structured explain, and recommendation features use large language models (LLMs) to generate narrative summaries and recommendations based on structured data. AI-generated content:

· may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information;
· reflects patterns in the PHIS data rather than independent clinical or financial expert judgement;
· is not reviewed or approved by any government agency or registered health insurer;
· should not be relied upon as health advice, financial advice, or as a substitute for a product disclosure statement (PDS) or hospital and extras guide.

Always refer to the fund's official PDS and contact the fund directly to confirm coverage, waiting periods, exclusions, and premiums before making any purchasing decision.

4. Intelligence scores

Intelligence scores (e.g. Value Score, Coverage Score) are computed using algorithmic models applied to the PHIS dataset. They are relative rankings across the product catalogue at a point in time and are not audited by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) or any other regulator. Scores change when the underlying data changes.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, DataColada and Data Products Factory accept no liability for any loss, damage, or adverse outcome arising from use of, or reliance on, information, scores, or AI content on this platform.

This platform is provided as is, without warranty of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

6. Privacy

All health insurance product data displayed on this platform is sourced from publicly available government datasets — no individual member or claims data is held. API key usage data is stored to enable credit billing. See our Privacy Policy for details.
